Screw pile foundations · Sussex, Surrey & South London

Extensions on screw piles. Designed, engineered and built by one team.

We design and build on helical screw pile foundations, with every pile designed by our sister company, Sussex Structural Engineers. No trench digging, no waiting for concrete, and one point of contact from drawings to Building Control sign-off.

A smarter foundation

Why build on screw piles

Helical screw piles are steel shafts with spiral plates, wound into the ground to a set torque. They carry your extension on firm ground, skipping the deep trench and the concrete wait.

01

Clay and tree roots

Piles reach past shrinkable clay and root zones that make trench foundations deep and costly.

02

Tight access

A compact rig fits through side passages and back gardens where a digger can't.

03

No waiting for concrete

Piles take load as soon as they're in, so the frame can follow straight on.

04

Less mess, less spoil

Little excavation means fewer skips, less mud and a garden that recovers quickly.

05

Checked on every pile

Torque is recorded as each pile goes in, giving Building Control proof of capacity.

06

Made for timber frame

Our timber frame panels sit on a light ground beam over the piles, which suits a fast, dry build.

From ground to sign-off

How it works

Design, structural engineering and construction are coordinated by one team, making the process simpler from the first site visit onwards.

01
Site visit

We assess the site

We look at the ground, trees and access, and agree what you want to build.

02
Design

Design and engineering

STAAC draws the extension and SSE designs the pile layout and ground beam.

03
Install

Piles installed

Piles are wound in with a compact rig and torque is logged for each one.

04
Build

Frame goes up

The timber frame follows straight on, with no concrete curing time.

05
Complete

Signed off

Torque records and calculations go to Building Control for sign-off.

Common questions

Yes, with an engineer's design and torque records. SSE provides both as part of the package.
They suit most sites, especially clay, trees and tight access. We confirm at the site visit.
Every site is different, so we give you a fixed quote once the ground has been checked and the design is done.
