DOMESTIC EPC’S FOR LANDLORDS & HOMEOWNERS
It is often the case that a DIY project, designed to save money on a renovated household, costs more than hiring professionals because something can often go wrong and an unexpected problem can arise. When embarking on a project like this, determine in the beginning what you need and how much money you need to set aside for each of those items.
The projects that follow are the ones that can cost you the most, so pay attention if you plan to do any of these on your own.
1. Plumbing
What can cause higher costs when repairing plumbing are problems with existing plumbing because old pipes may be falling apart and you only see this when you move the plumbing components. Improving the appearance of the bathroom can lead to a number of costs because if the plumbing is improperly installed or closed, sewage gases can enter your house, which in addition to your budget will also impair health.
2. Basement
Before you start remodelling your basement, you need to clearly define what that room will serve you, because it depends on that how much money you have to set aside and that cannot be decided 'on the go'. Also, think immediately about basement room heating as it may happen that later deciding to install heating pipes and other heat sources can lead to a number of additional costs.
3. New HVAC system
When determining the amount of money you will need to install a new HVAC, do not underestimate the size of your home and the amount of BTUs you will need to cool that much space. In this project, sewage can increase your costs as well as the type (or brand) of the device that is installed and the company that will install the device for you.
4. New kitchen devices or bathroom items
It's great to look on the internet about what you can buy from a device or tiles and other items nowadays, and it certainly provides inspiration, but it can encourage you to buy things you might not really need. Consider what features of the device you really need and how often you will truly enjoy their charms.
Also, buying online often is an unprecedented expense because the miscalculation occurs more often than you think.
5. Roof
Roofing DIY projects often turn out to be more expensive than planned because you never know what really is under the roof. A homeowner who is not proficient in this type of business can very often ruin a project because it lacks the knowledge or tools and can later cost more.
